Spring is here again so its time to get out and take part in some activities that bring us back in touch with the natural world.
As part of Crystal Palace Park Trust's ongoing commitment to providing free events, we're delighted to present another series of events designed to get us interacting with the abundance of new growth we see around us.
Our Spring programme provides more free, live music on the Concert Platform, a chance to explore some easy to access outdoor activities like Pétanque and pond-dipping, but also encourages us to get our hands dirty with gardening and wildlife focused events which help us reconnect with nature at this important time of year.

Earth Day 2024: Community Planting in Jubilee Gardens
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. As stewards of a green, public space the Trust are very much aware of environmental issues, so we're presenting this Earth Day event to help encourage positive environmental action!
For this event we're partnering with Invisible Palace to help plant up some of the empty beds in Jubilee Gardens (next to the bus station and the Vicar's Oak). Join us for a fun, social session where we'll sow seeds and plant flowering plants which will develop and grow into the beds over time, to create a more friendly space which we can all be proud of. If you'd like to take part and add your mark to this part of the park, sign up at the link below!
In association with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, we're going on a buzzy safari around the park! This event will help participants understand the role of pollinators and explore ways in which we can support them by creating new sources of food for them.
Led by the knowledgeable team at BCT, participants will be assisted in the process of catching and looking at the different bumblebee species in the park up close, learning how to identify each species. (Nets and pots provided for people to learn how to safe bee catching).

Guerilla gardening refers to the practice of encouraging plant growth in unusual spaces or those places which are currently uncared for. For this event, we'll be creating our own "seed bombs" - small balls of earth which contain native wildflower seeds which participants can deposit in the park (with our permission), or take away to deposit easily deposit in their own gardens or literally anywhere else.

Many of our Spring events are designed to provide participants with a connection to nature and the natural world, which the park has an important role in fostering.
Victorian parks such as Crystal Palace Park were designed to combine access to green spaces with opportunities for leisure and recreation among others. Crystal Palace Park had a particular focus on events inside and beyond the historic palace.
